This is an excellent teaching from Angelo that helped grounding in the moment click for me.
It is simply noticing, or touching attention into, sound, sensation, and silence. All three are available at all times and noticing them simultaneously (or in sequence) led me right to grounding into the present moment.
Stop there. That’s it. No need to think any more about it or try any harder to look for it, because that’s it. It’s so dead simple.
Yet the simplicity of this has been incredibly illusive to me. My attention wanders back into thought very quickly. There’s a sense belief that says “if thinking is happening it must be paid attention to.” Thoughts are very magnetic.
By cycling through noticing sounds, sensations, and silence, thoughts quiet down. It gives a busy mind a series of things to do while attention notices the recognition of each. It becomes easier to let thoughts go and the silence grows.
It’s a 30 minute talk, but well worth it.
